First Week Complete!

Pretty Blue Bells
Today we went to an old Iron Hill fort. The Celtes created it to defend themselves against impending Roman attacks. It is one of the only hill forts in Scotland (maybe even in Britain) that has not been excavated. Check out aerial photographs of Chester's Hill Fort! It's incredible to see!

We saw a huge fox running into the trees on the right!
Watching us, again. Guardians of Chester's Hill Fort!
Since the cows followed us the whole way around, I felt it was only natural to take a picture with them. They were very curious animals - they reminded me a of big dogs who just wanted to see what we were up to. Maybe I shouldn't have been so trusting, but it worked out just fine.
North Berwick Law - A volcano!

Ruins of a castle! After some research, I found this castle is called "Saltcoat Castle."
I really liked the architecture of this one
This castle was quite off the beaten path.  I am lucky because there are many authentic historical sites like these that most visitors will never get to see. This  castle is over 500 years old. The date stone (over every door of these old buildings) reads 1590.
Underneath the castle!

Pieces of meat were probably hung from these hooks. I thought it was pretty incredible they were still there.
We had coffee at the other end of this golf course, at a place called "The Old Clubhouse." It was our original stop before we decided to walk down to the castle ruins!
After coffee, we decided to go to the beach to watch the sunset. It really looked like a postcard, with the pink sky and the rolling mountains in the background. We just happened to catch a cruise ship passing by.
At this point, it was about 10:30pm! On the clear nights, it stays light until so much later than at home. I feel like I am getting more adjusted to the time difference now, but the fact that the sun doesn't set until late still throws me off a bit. Our summer 6pm at home has the same light as 9:30pm here.

  1. Awww, those cows have such a peace loving look on their faces. Who wouldn't be trusting of them?

I'm loving this blog! You're doing a great job at documenting your thoughts and memories, and your photojournalism is awesome!
